SMALL GROUPS ~
SISTERS
IN CHRIST meet twice a month
for lively discussion, prayer, and fellowship. They will
begin
with
a short devotion study and look at what God says about
living in the 21st century as women loving the Lord.
Their time together will close with praise and prayer
for each
other, our church, and any other concerns brought to
share. Bring a friend! The meetings will be on the 1st
and 3rd
Thursday’s of the month from 7-8 PM.
MEN
ON THE HILL Calling
all men! The Men on the Hill take place on the 2nd
and 4th Monday’s of the month from 7-8 PM. They are
using the book: The
Samson Syndrome: What You Can Learn from the Baddest Boy in the
Bible by
Mark Attebury. Copies will be provided.
Here is a brief description of the book:
The story of Samson is the perfect vehicle to reveal the twelve
tendencies that can bring down strong men: disregarding their boundaries,
struggling with lust, ignoring good advice, overestimating their
own cleverness, and others. Written in a compassionate, funny,
and practical style, The Samson Syndrome offers readers powerful
ideas for making sure they use their greatest strengths to honor
God in every situation.
COVENANT
COUPLES Coming

good time with each other and other couples when
Pastor Pat and his wife Cherie will be hosting

WAYS YOU CAN HELP ~
Discovery
Zone is looking for additional adult
helpers on Sunday morning to assist Cheri. Please prayerfully consider
if you can help. We are hoping to have enough helpers to set up a rotation
schedule. No preparation/planning - just be another pair of hands.
Both men and women can help. Please let Pam
Berg or Cheri Coakley know
if you are willing and interested.
BENEVOLENCE
Thank you to everyone who has been helping us keep a supply of benevolence
items (toiletries, paper towels, detergent, etc.) on hand. Please
check out the bulletin board at the top of the stairs for items
needed. Take an index card, purchase the item, and bring it to
church with
you. You can leave the item(s) by the office door. Please note that
we are now distributing items only on the first Sunday of the month.
This will enable us to build up a supply of items and
to keep better track of those items we are distributing.
FOOD
PANTRY - You can help in many ways. Take
a look here or

CONFERENCE/DENOMINATION INFORMATION AND UPDATES ~
Free Methodist Church USA
MISSION
NEWS
Read
the latest news from the Wilsons, serving in the Philippines for more than 20
years. Jim is stateside during this summer. Hopefully, we will be
able to have him visit while he is here. Our goal to support them
and our other missionaries is $3,500. Please contact Faith
Albano if you wish to contribute.

INTERCESSORY
PRAYERIf
you desire prayer for yourself or someone else, please bring it to
the attention of our church administrator.
Your request will remain confidential unless you indicate that it should
be placed in the
weekly prayer bulletin insert. Read some good thoughts about prayer from
Supt. Mark Adams.
FOOD PANTRY
Our food pantry was highlighted on the
Christian Broadcasting Network on Thursday, December
1. In early November
they came and spent the day going to the Evanston Farmer’s
Market and then at the pantry during distribution.
We are mentioned in the article and we are on the video.
Check out the link: Food
Banks Become the New Normal
The ‘Hillside
Food Pantry’ is now on Facebook!
Check it out for pictures of what we are doing
and updates of what’s
been happening lately.
If you are able to contribute over
and above your regular tithes and
offerings to
the church, please
consider the food pantry.
We are in
need of funds to purchase non-perishable
items from the Food Depository through their warehouse.
Since
we are a member agency,
we can purchase
items by the case for minimal cost.
There is something going on every day. The food pantry also
needs financial assistance to purchase food/pantry related
supplies – paper bags, plastic bags on a roll (for
food items), food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository,
etc.
Checks can be sent to the church, placed in the offering
plate during the Sunday morning worship service, or given
to Faith
Albano. You can also donate through our website (Google and
PayPal.)
The food pantry requires at least 20
volunteers during distribution on
Wednesday’s and Saturday’s.
Volunteers are always needed in distribution,
check-in, parking detail and
food rescue
(picking
up and helping put the food away
once it arrives at the pantry). Opportunities
to
serve are
available every day.
Depending
on the day we need help
in the morning, mid-day, or during
distribution in the afternoon. If
you
are able to
spare some time,
whether
once a week,
a couple times
a month or even once a month, or
if you are already on the schedule and
need
to change
your scheduled
time, please
email volunteer coordinator.
